Privacy Policy

Overview

ApplyNudge ("we," "us," or "our") is a college application tracking tool for high school students and their parents. We take privacy seriously — especially because many of our users are minors. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Your name and graduation year (entered during onboarding)
  • Your email address (optional; used for cloud sync and account recovery)
  • A parent or guardian's email address (optional; used to send a parent invite link)
  • The colleges you add to your list and your checklist progress for each school
  • Academic interests you select (e.g., Medicine, Engineering, Film)

Information collected automatically

  • Basic usage data (which features you use, how often you open the app) — used only to improve the product, never sold
  • Authentication data from Manus OAuth (your name and email as provided by your Google or other OAuth provider) when you choose to sign in

What we do NOT collect

  • Social Security numbers, government IDs, or financial account details
  • Your GPA, test scores, or any academic records
  • Your physical location
  • Any information from your device's contacts, camera, or microphone

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the ApplyNudge service
  • Sync your school list and progress across your devices when you are signed in
  • Send a one-time parent invite email when you request it from Settings
  • Process premium subscription payments through Stripe (we never see your card number)
  • Send you important service-related communications (e.g., account security notices)

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

ApplyNudge is intended for students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete that information promptly.

Students between 13 and 17 may use ApplyNudge with parental awareness. We encourage parents to review this policy with their children.

Parent Accounts and Linked Data

When a student generates a parent invite link and a parent claims it, the parent gains read-only access to the student's school list and checklist progress. Parents cannot modify the student's data. Either party can unlink the connection at any time from their respective Settings pages.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Passwords are never stored — authentication is handled entirely through OAuth providers (Google, etc.).

If you use ApplyNudge without signing in, your data is stored only on your device in your browser's local storage. It is not transmitted to our servers and will be lost if you clear your browser data.

Third-Party Services

ApplyNudge uses the following third-party services:

  • Stripe — for processing premium subscription payments. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data: stripe.com/privacy
  • Manus OAuth — for sign-in authentication. Only your name and email are shared with us upon login.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: You can view all data associated with your account in the Settings page.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by emailing [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • Opt out of analytics: Basic usage analytics can be disabled by using the app without signing in.
  • Unlink parent: Students can remove a linked parent account at any time from Settings → Account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify signed-in users via an in-app notice. Your continued use of ApplyNudge after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
